Cork is a popular material for gasket manufacturing due to its high compressibility and flexibility. When combined with neoprene rubber, cork gaskets exhibit good oil, solvent, and fuel resistance. Cork is offered in a range of grades that are impermeable, buoyant, elastic, and fire-resistant. The standard thicknesses of cork materials range from 1/32″ to 1/4″ thick. All cork composition and cork rubber materials are available with or without pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing.

Cork

Cork offers a great resistance to abrasion making it a great option for many gasket applications.  It is also fire retardant and has a low density and high elasticity which limits the compression set and extends the usable life of the gaskets.

Cork & Rubber

Adding rubber to the cork creates a denser and more stable material making it more resistant to liquid leaks. There is also flexibility in the type of rubber included in the compound, this allows for better customization of gaskets to fit your application depending on what chemicals or oils will be in contact with the gasket.
